Big adventure coming up!  I am going on a National Geographic Expedition to Wyoming's Cowboy Country with Jay Dickman, who is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer and has published five books for National Geographic. He and Photographer Instructor Jeff Vanuga, whose work has been published world wide will be holding a photography workshop at the CM Ranch in Dubois, Wyoming from June 22nd through the 28th, and I will be there!

I will be getting "ensconced in the traditions of the Wild West, photographing wranglers at work, horse drives, and lasso-tossing cowboys."  I will "work on portraiture during photo sessions with cowboys, and shoot images of horses galloping across the sage-brush fields against red hills of the Badlands."  Then I get to "head behind the scenes to document the excitement of a Friday-night rodeo."  (National Geographic Expeditions Travel Catalog 2014-2015 pg. 112)

I've had some experience photographing cowboys and bull riders at the PBR and Pendleton Roundup last summer in Pendleton, Oregon. I obtained a press pass and was able to get in the thick of things with my Canon 60D. (Some of my work is posted below. See more PBR and Pendleton Roundup photos in my Galleries)

I am very excited about this upcoming adventure and will be blogging about my experiences hopefully throughout the workshop (time permitting).
